Bandipora, Mar 09 (KNO): Residents of Katsen, a remote village of Aloosa in North Kashmir's Bandipora district, are up in arms against the authorities for the lack of basic facilities in their area. Locals of the village told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the village is located about 20-km from the district headquarters and are deprived of almost all basic amenities and facilities which have been promised by the government. The villagers also alleged that the area sans health care facilities as the health sub-centre in the village is in shambles. "We often have to take our patients to Bandipora, which is a long distance from here," they said. “There are no health care facilities in our village. A health sub-centre that was provided is operating from a rented room with only two female staffers without basic facilities," they said. Tanveer Khan, a local said that despite continuous assurance from the higher authorities nothing has happened so far. "We can't even go to the mosque in the evening because the road that leads is muddy and we can't walk. The Ketson-Banilpora main road witnesses massive stone sliding during rains days," he said. Ishfaq another local said even the local Panchayat committee has failed to resolve the issues despite being approached on several occasions. He said in the absence of a proper water supply, we literally are being forced to fetch the 'contaminated' water from a nearby rivulet. The unavailability of public transport is another big issue for the villagers as they never get a vehicle on time here. The residents appealed to the senior officials of the district to visit the village and make an on-the-spot assessment of their condition—(KNO)
